So I got my act together

and created a newsletter with the help of the good peeps at Mad Mimi. For the longest time I read about the importance of newsletters and keeping your audience connected. For almost a year now "create newsletter" has been on my to-do list. Had I known how easy it was, I would have crossed it off ages ago.

Mad Mimi makes it easy with customizable templates and makes it easy to share via emails or twitter. Not to mention rocking customer service if any questions should arise. If your interested in creating your own check them out, there's really no need to put it off like I did. Or if your interested in signing up for mine, please do! You'll find the handy dandy sign up button on the left hand colum.

Anyhoo, I'm pleased as punch with the outcome and am already diligently planning future issues. Which may or may not include these new Derby Girl Christmas Ornaments I've been working on for the holidays. And at 32 I'm having a bit of a issue with that. This cooler weather means one of my favorite things, baking? Sure. What I really mean is the understated charm that is dressing in layers. Esspecially when a unexpected pop of color is thrown in.

These four are my top contenders. If anyone knows of any other cutesy capes please feel free to share. I'm off to press a few of these guys on some tops I just finished for the Shop.

Head Over Wheels

Hiatus might be the wrong word to use for the super long break I've had from blogging, but I'm back and head over wheels in love!! With roller derby that is.

I recently joined the newly formed leauge in my town (The McLean County Missfits)I finally decided on the derby name "9 Milly" after countless weeks of diliberating and am so excited/borderlined obbessed it's not even funny. I think if I could figure out how to sew in my skates I would, but in the mean time I'll settle for screen printing in them.

It's a wonderful release and a killer workout, but has done nothing to curb my sock obbession. Of course I have used derby as a valid excuse to hit up my most fav sock site Sock Dreams. I adore these nerd socks and of course the crafty socks are already tucked in my sock drawer. And by "tucked" I mean crammed, as the afore mentioned sock obbession is visablily taking it's toll. They seem to be having a sale over at SD soooo many cute socks and only these 2 feet. Sigh.

Speaking of sales, this week most of the limited edtion clothes in the shop will be on sale for $18 or $20 to make room for new fall designs.

Questionable Love Affair

So I just may or may not be having a love affair with the great outdoors this year. That may seem like a weird thing for those of you spending your weekends on sun soaked adventures camping, rock climbing, and/or kayaking away (see I really have no clue what goes on out there). I'll rock a porch chair and glass of iced tea like no other, but that's it really, or rather that was it.

Now I can't seem to stay inside, especially around meal times. So I wanted to share some of my fav outdoor eating finds.
This Kissing Bunnies picnic blanket pictured above was too cute not to share, and since we all know that balancing a paper plate on your lap via a lawn chair is way over rated, this spread is perfect for nibbling outside.

This cheery little tiffin lunch pail stopped me dead in my tracks, with it's bento styled shape and bright colors. I've always loved the idea of these stackable lunchboxes, that keep everything separate and in their place. This little guy makes transporting my fruits, salads and sandwiches or anything else I wish drama free.

I also wanted to show off the latest styles now avaliable in the shop. I adore this style and it appears that I'm on some sort of ruffle kick lately. Anyhoo, happy picnic'n my lovelies!

B&W Goodness.

As promised, here's a pic of my new workbench/shipping station, it's perfect for holding all my packing supplies and makes getting orders out a breeze.

It's been painted and screen printed with my sprocket design, but it's still not done. Eventually a super large scooter will grace the peg board as well as the table part. I love how it's coming along and wanted to show it off. I also wanted to remind you all of the "New Studio Celebration Sale" that I'll be having in the Shop all of next week with a special deal each day.

This includes my limited edition goods as well like this new sew a go shirt now in black and white. So stop by on Monday and take a peep lovelies.

I've moved!

I've been away for sometime but not without good reason, Andy and I have just wrapped up a move to the new M.M. studio, a small carriage house right behind my house. True it wasn't as easy peasy as I thought it'd be. But two weeks, several break downs, and bags upon bags of fabric (seriously where did it come from?!) later and we're all moved in, not quite work ready but damn it we're IN! Hopefully I'll have more workspace pics up soon and new designs even sooner. I'm off to finish working on this really fun idea I have for my workbench, pics coming soon.

Wait what?!

It's New Years Day some how. I have no clue how this happened it kinda snuck up on me. So guess who had no plans for last night? That might have bothered me a few years ago but after the holidays that kicked my ass (in the best way possible) I guess I was looking forward to a not so quiet night home. I'm also looking forward to my usual calendar hunt, and there are so many fun ones on my radar.

Not only does this cutie from Mod Cloth reek of retro goodness it also pairs my love of corn dogs and Carmel apples (never in that order, not since the state fair of 98) and features the cutest version of the two all dolled up and proclaiming their "Careless love".

It features hand-drawn images and lettering on each page. I love the free form that allows you to feel like your writing in a journal that someone has already kindly illustrated for you.

I am so feeling the luv...

I'm pleased as punch to announce that fabric napkins from Moxie Madness were chosen to be featured in Chow.com's Holiday Gift Guide Woot!

Making their debut are the latest design from the shop , The Switchblade Silverware Set. Which started as a joke between Andy and I. I pressed a few for us and decided we might not be the only ones with a little dinner time argo.

I also received some love from one of the sweetest girls on the east coast, my new pal Darcy Danger. She sent me not one but two of the cutest mini notebooks from the The Black Apple.

I have been coveting these lovelies for ages now and after coming clean to DD that I have a collection of journals that I'm scared to "ruin" with my serial killerish handwriting, she sent them my way and I'm SO very grateful. Not only do they have uber cool graphics, but also a sweet little poem on the back about how important it is to fill up your notebooks. Something that I'm slowly learning to do. Thanks for the lesson Darcy and happy Tuesday all!

So last night I had some beers

while poking around one of my Nigella cookbooks and found a recipe for hasselback
potatoes, but figured I would improvise with larger potatoes, garlic olive oil and some rosemary.

Now we use ALOT of potatoes here in the land of madness and these are becoming a fast favorite. Not only are they the perfect savory, herb infused fix but they are so dang fun to eat. For serious.

Anyhoo, I recently got my hands on some kick ass rubber stamps recently and decided to use my favorite on these tiny envelopes I acquired for thank yous to include in orders and such. I love this wide eyed cat, it totally reminds me of those old kitty wall clocks where the eyes and tail would tick back and forth. Member those?

In other news, there's a new design in the shop and a few new limited edition styles as well with more to come.

Off to make breakfast for dinner. My ABSOLUTE favorite!!

It's sewing machine day! Well it was yesterday but this post got eaten. But even if your calendar company is like mine and made the foolish mistake not to include this holiday, it's not too late to celebrate.

Although I didn't have any sewing originally planned for today, there's no way I can sit idlely by. Does anyone remember these things? Ahhh...80's technology at it's finest. A friend picked this up for me at a thrift in PA and I adore it. And yes, it still works. That'll teach me to make fun of her and what I thought was her ancient calculator.

The above design "Threads" is part of the Sewing Circle line I mentioned a few posts ago, and is one of my personal favorites.

I found a new supplier that has amazing duds so be expecting something a little out of the ordinary from now on. Here are a few more of the newest styling's.

I especially love this squirrel tunic top with it's slight cowl neck and the heart shaped buttons and all. There is plenty more coming but not before I relax for this long weekend. Surely lazy days are ahead, hope you all have plenty of perfectly lazy moments.

The Protector

Just a quick post to show off the newest design in the land of madness "The Protector". My homage to the remarkable art of sewing by hand.

The tunics are now avaliable in the Shop with T-Shirts soon to follow. This is the first design in a new line called "The Sewing Circle". I have a real soft spot for thimbles, they recall memories of my grandma's sewing basket and of her fretting when her tiny protector went missing. This designs for her and I'm oh so fond of it and hope you are too.

I'm a bit of a magazine whore.

There I said it. From over sized glossy fashion rags to tiny hand bound zines, monthly or bi-monthly they arrive to be cherished for the next week or so then set aside to be forgotten, retrieved occasionally for a forgotten article or recipe. While I enjoy them, it feels like such a waste. So with most of my subscriptions coming to a end I've chosen to do without all but my beloveds Croq, Bust and my new favorite Wired (Which at only $10 for a year wasn't a hard choice). Insert clever way to still get my fashioney, crafty, grass roots goodness without the clutter and well the hefty subscription rates. I'm talking about N.E.E.T. of course.

Filled with amazing treasures from indie businesses, dreamy fashions, D.I.Y projects and eye popping photos. Not to mention interesting articles with neet peeps. One thing I really love and find slightly dangerous about this online mag is when you see a uber cute item featured you just click on it and it takes you to the site that sells them. Another online read that I always look forward to is Craftier, a bi-monthly jaunt of tutorials, artist spotlights and up and coming projects and events.

Not to be missed my lovelies. So now that I will have a slightly smaller stack of magazines I've been on the look out for a unique rack to put them in. I've never actually owned a mag rack mainly because I've never been to impressed with the boring bulky builds that I always associate with keeping my rags neat and tidy.

This ditty is a serious contender in my search. I adore the tea pot shape and the good folks at paper doll wood shop Paper Doll Wood Shop just happen to offer this beauty in turquoise. How can I resist? No seriously.

It's no secret

That I love to sew. Which is why when a friend came across this insanely cute brooch he knew it would have a good home with me. I've been meaning to share this little ditty for quite awhile actually. I've seen these pins before but never one so detailed. My favorite part is the tiny eye glasses and thimble. Swoon.

Anyhoo, Andy and finally saw Grey Gardens this weekend. It's the riches to rags story of reclusive mother and daughter, Big Edie and Little Edie Beale. The pair shared witty banter, bizarre antics, and a overly dependant relationship in a decaying mansion filled with squalor and cats, lots of cats. The Edie's also happened to be aunt and cousin to first lady Jackie O, which caused quite a stir with the press when photos of their home were released.

The dialogue captured my attention the most as well as the costumes. When Little Edie declares that "one must have the right costume for the day", I was instantly spellbound by these women and their bizarre existence. Seriously worth checking out if you have a soft spot for eccentric characters, as I tend to. Before I sign off on this post I wanted to show off the newest color available in the golden poppy tunics.

I do lots of custom orders for the black and gold and it just occurred to me to offer them in the Shop. Sometimes the obvious escapes me. Happy Tuesday all!

Kitchen Threats

I seem to be obsessed with all things kitchen lately, which is why the dinner table just got a little more dangerous. As promised fabric napkins and place mat sets are making their way into the shop, aprons and table runners are soon to follow. Summer has this way of keeping food on my mind at all times, I'm either hungry, scouring for a new recipe to take to get together's or giving my veggies a pep talk so they'll grow faster (You too basil, I want pesto NOW!) Salads are my weakness at the moment so when I found THIS I haven't even thought about buying salad dressing. I'm not even a buttermilk fan but this has changed that, let me tell you.

It would seem that I'm one step closer to the grandma kitchen-ish feel I'm going for now that there's always' buttermilk in the fridge. Just to make sure I finished the mini table runner for my kitchen table from my gram's scraps of feed sack material that I've been hoarding away forever. I've since added trim but couldn't resist snapping these shots before it was officially finished.
Time for me to turn off the food network and get back to work already.

Weekend Finds

I found lots of things this weekend, and yes my way back to my blog was one of them. I've had a rather lengthy absence due to newly found lower back issues and well, life in general.
Turns out, nothing gets grand ideas in your head quite like being not being able to do any of said ideas or even move on your own for days on end. This has been the first weekend I was able to do weekendy things like thrifting and flower picking and finally planting my dill and cilantro seedlings and best of all not smelling like minty back ointment. One of the most noteworthy of finds this weekend has to the Anscovision memory master 8mm projector that we found at a new thrift store down the street for $5! Note the tags are still on it. I love the sound this baby makes, I swear it pur's.
I image this is how the men folk must feel when they hear a vintage car revving up. Ang and I are going to have lots of fun with this. Not only is it an excuse to pick up that Super 8 camera I've been eyeing (all I needed was a reason) but Ang has already found some old horror movie reels for projecting on walls when such a need arises. I also found a new love for cloth napkins and have been sewing more then the two of us could ever use, so a few printed pairs may be coming to the shop soon. You no doubt will hear more of this later, consider yourselves forewarned.

Because the last thing I need...

Is yet another coffee mug. Despite the fact that I'm that girl who religiously drinks her coffee or tea from the same mug everyday, I've acquired quite a collection of awesome coffee mugs. When my favorite cup breaks (cause when your uber clumsy like me you know they're gonna) I choose a new favorite from my collection and the saga continues. Even if I hadn't broke my coffee cup this morning I'd still want these babies sitting on my shelf.

The Pessimist's Mug is perfect when I'm in my negative Nadine coffee swigging moods.

THIS baby is the winner and will soon be residing on my kitchen shelf awaiting the next mug's demise. How could I say no to such a tough cup of joe (please excuse the lame rhyme)

I also came across this design of a zoom lens and thought it was pretty fun and kinda wished it were available.

Egads!

What a whirlwind the holidays and this new year have been so far. It feels like I've barely blinked my eyes and a whole month has somehow disappeared! So in a desperate urge to get back on track, I've taken to looking for my own studio space that is not in my home. As much as I love working from home, there are just too many distractions, not to mention the "officialness" factor of having a headquarters for my next phase of world domination. I've started the studio hunt, looking for something close to home and most importantly something I can afford and seem to have found some promising spaces within a old school that's only a block away from my house. More details in the next month or so, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm also keeping my eye's on these lovely moss terrarium's by Made by Mavis
They envoke such a curiosity with me and since I've never been known to have the greenest thumb, the easy care is just a bonus. I really love this one in the ball jar.

When inspiration is sought

Wow, quite a hiatus from the blog. No other reason then pure laziness I suppose. Creative ruts always hit me in the winter and this year is no exception. I've been trying different things to get my creative juices a flowin. Early afternoon strolls are becoming a favorite of mine (even more so now that it's snowing as I type) I finally got around to snapping a few shots of these colorful houses that dot my neighborhood and always make me smile. Ang and I are always try and figure out if the owners are in some kind of not so secret alliance to spread cheer, and if so where can I sign up?
I've also been thinking of picking up Keri Smith's Wreck This Journal I love the idea of destroying something that usually becomes very valuable to most of us, the way journals tend to do. I don't know how many beautiful journals I have sitting on my shelf unfinished because I'm scared of "ruining" them. I've really been enjoying the WTJ Flickr Gallery as well. People are doing some amazing things with this book. Which of course fills me with (dis)illusions of grandeur, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The Hotline

So here's the newest design in The Shop, it's called The Hotline and it's pairs my love of over the heart graphics with old rotary phones. Which if I could find one in working order I would totally have and use and gladly forfeit the caller ID luxury.

I just pressed a few in the red and gray for now, but have pink and turquoise coming soon. I'm really loving this design and hope to have a few pillows with it added to my couch and to my shop very soon. I also wanted to show off my grandma's sewing scissors that I finally put in a shadow box.

Up until last week I was actually still (gasp) using them and I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the gentlest touch when it comes to scissors so they really are better off with their own little place to call home. Instead of being man handled by the likes of me.

Rainy day patch party

Okay, so I don't own a umbrella, but I make up for it by having not one but two pairs of rain boots. Which to Andy's horror I wear even when it's not snowing or raining, but I love my Chooka boots and they always cheer me up. Any wellies really, have been floating my boat and I find I'm slipping them on more and more lately. It's been such a rainy/windy/dreary week that I needed to have a bit of fun so I had a bit of a patch party and pressed a bunch of fun new and old favorites that will be along shortly for the X-mas season.
I really love the sew a go-go patches and their close cousin the gift tags that are perfect for adorning those handmade gifts with. So now that my studio's floor is littered with scraps of brightly covered felt and paper, and my hand is cramped from all that cutting I'm going to settle in for the night with a nice cuppa cocoa in the worlds best cocoa cup that I found at the thrift for .20 and watch White Heat because someone has me in a James Cagney kinda mood.

Crafty Love in Route

The last few days have been uber busy, and now that I have this lull I'm taking advantage of it by doing a few of the things I really wanted to do but somehow someway slipped by me (boy are there more then a few).

One of those was sending the sweetest girl I know on the west coast a belated birthday/care package. I have the tendency to horde things for people and then send or give said horded items over all at once, but I've never gotten a complaint about this tendency yet. I included some yerba mate, an issue of Bust, Ann Taintor tissues with our mantra on them, stationary from the letter writers alliance (as a hint that I'd like a letter every once in a while), a embroidery kit I put together and tucked inside a pouch I made special for her. Oh and the "gift" that's more for me, one my old digi cameras. I really miss seeing her and I'm hoping she'll be more apt to send more pics if she has her own camera. Oh and perhaps get another person addicted to my mild obbession that is flickr. Off to work on new patch packs for the holidays and other fun stuff!

Am I the last one to know?

So many times I feel like I'm the last to know about anything, but I especially feel that way about these two ditty's that were dropped in my lap recently. A dear friend of mine recently gave me a Tom Waits album to listen to, and although I had heard of him before I never gave him the chance he so well deserved.

I reluctantly put it on and was instantly induced into a creepy nursery rhymish trance. The mystery and theatric graveness of the album is superior to anything I own. Before I even knew it was originally written for Kathleen Brennan's opera Alice, I thought how it was perfectly suited to be an opera it would be. My favorite tracks are "Everything you can think of is true", the gruff voice paired with whimsical imagery is insanely awesome. I highly recommend this album, in case I'm not really the last one to know.

So the other thing I should have known about is "The Other Boleyn Girl" which I only rented for the magnificent costume eye candy, but got oh so much more from this baby. Even more then my beloved Lifetime movies have ever dared to give. The story follows Anne Boleyn's sister Mary who in order to advance her family's interest reluctantly abandons her husband to become the kings mistress and bears him 2 children. Anne driven to be queen, encourages the king to abandon Mary and his wife queen Catherine. Chaos then ensues. Seriously if your the other person who hasn't seen it yet, do it! If only for the costumes, swanky dialogue or scandal after scandal!

Nutty Granola Bread AKA The Easyiest Bread Ever

So it's no secret that I'm a baking fiend. But I really love baking bread, there's just something so gratifying about the whole process. The kneading, the rising, taking the loaf out of the oven, slathering it with really good butter and not to mention the amazing aroma that fills the house.

Sometimes when I'm feeling lazy, but must have homemade bread I use this recipe (which is happening more and more lately) not only is it a really yummy bread but it's so easy and since I've found the recipe I've had to make it at least once a week. I originally found it in one of my Nigella cookbooks but have tweaked it a bit to what i had on hand and I'm sure you all will do the same. Theres no kneading, no rising time and the oven does all the work. Well except of the eating of course. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we have.

Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups of flour
- 2 cups granola
- 1 pack of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water

Simply mix the dry ingredients together and add the milk and water. Stir until it looks like a thick porridge and pour into a greased loaf pan (don't be alarmed if it fills up more then half way).

-Put into a COLD oven and then set the oven to 225 for 45 mins.
-When those 45 mins are up, kick the heat up to 350 for 60 mins.

You'll know it's done when it's a beautiful golden brown.

That's it! Told ya it was easy. It's a dense bread that's a perfect side to your favorite comfort food or great all by it's self lightly toasted with butter and jam.

Don't you love it...

When something unexpected really brightens your day? Well, it really made my day to run across This blog which happens to belong to the lovely "Boo" who btw has the most rocking hair EVER! (seriously folks) And who recently made a wholesale order for some of my kitchen towels for her AMAZING shop The Revue Boutique & Gallery, which is located in West Chester PA (outside of Philadelphia) and features handmade jewelry, housewares, fine art and apparel.
Make sure you check it out if your in the area, the space looks fabulous and is filled with wonderful things. I was so happy to see this picture of my towels amoung all the awesome wares and how lovely everything looks. Great job Boo, and congrats on your beautiful store!

I guess I've been spoiled today because I also had a nice surprise this morning as I got out of my car to skeedaddle my arse across the parking lot to work, (I was skeedaddling because it was raining pretty hard and of course I don't even own an umbrella), I noticed this perfect stranger getting out of the car next to me who so kindly offered to share his umbrella with me on the walk in. It might not mean much to some, but that's the first time that's ever happened to me and it really made my day much brighter on such a dreary day.

Mad about my Yerba Mate

Mad I tell ya! Most people that know me know that coffee is my poison of choice, but Yerba Mate comes in at a realllly close second. I found this yummy stuff when the wonderful Tea Noir included a sample of her magnificent Mocha Mate in one of my orders and I've been smitten ever since. While I still love her Mates (pronounced Mot-tay) I've been dabbling with a few other brews like that are sooo good including my new favorite Cocoa Mint Mate which is what's brewing in my french press above. For those not in the know Mate is a South American herb that's a great alternative to teas and is most popular in Argentina, while my preferred method to brew it is my french press (surprise surprise) the traditional way to drink it is in a small hollowed out gourd with a long filter straw made of metal called a bombilla.

It is available in tea bags my favorite is Pixie Mate if your on the go and can't be bothered with brewing it the traditional way, I must say that it is soooo much better the traditional way though. One thing I love about this stuff is it really packs a punch that lasts without the jitters that it's cohort coffee tends to hash out. I could seriously drink this stuff all day long and the best part? There's no headaches or addiction when you don't drink it, unlike my beloved coffee. So if your looking for an alternative to coffee or green tea, or just wanna try something new I urge you to give it a go. It's known for it's euphoric effects and I can honestly say it makes you feel pretty darn good. Go ahead and try and frown when you have a nice steamy cup this stuff....go ahead I dare ya.

Time in the Kitchen

Awww, the days are getting cooler and the nights a wee bit longer. It's getting to be that time of year already. Soon the trees will be bare and it'll be time to pull out those boots, scarves and hats. I can just hear some of you saying "Whoa Moxie, not yet! Say it ain't so". As much as I love summer, I'm almost welcoming these cool evenings and the promise of pumpkin spice everything that's soon to be in the air. I'm a baking fiend and summer means I find myself cooling my jets on the yummy breads and sweet treats that are seemingly ever present in my oven. I've been eyeing this book La Brea Bakery all summer long and think I'll finally pick it up knowing that it won't be just sitting on my kitchen shelf mocking me.

I wanna play...

The piano that is. Well actually this vintage 1967 Vox Jaguar organ that I can't seem to get out of my head. I'm a pretty fierce typist and for some reason in my demented little head I think that makes me a keen student for playing the piano. I can remember sitting at the old upright my mom had in the study playing (badly) the only two songs I knew (and still do) Lean on me and Hot cross buns (thanks to my 1st grade music teacher Mr. Cummings). Encouraged only by my mom's random comments of how perfect my slender fingers were for playing the piano, I had disillusions of grandeur and was always quickly frustrated when I couldn't play Bach's Minuet in G Major by the second day. Now a day's I apt for being appreciative of anyone who could play, seemly livening up a room by inducing random sing a-longs or just adding a bit of ambiance in the background by filling the house with the rich sounds of the keys. I think of it more and more lately, perhaps it has something to do with all the Dresden Dolls I've been listening to lately. Which is strange considering I play the drums, you'd think I'd be listening to Brian's machine gun stylings; but I've seemed to hone onto the wiles of Amanda's powerful key work and wondering just how she does it. Even though I know it impossible to be able to play on that level I still dream of being that girl who can sit down at a piano and pound out a song, any song all the way through perfectly and confidently, and one day I will. For now I guess the only keyboard I'll be tickling is on my laptop, and I'm okay with that. For now.

Also it occured to me that I never showed off my finished ray gun tattoo (that has been done for quite a while now) I really love how it turned out, it's by far one of my favorites. I can't decide if it's the colors or just Parkers awesome handi work. Well that's it for now, I'm preparing for the Christmas season which is why I've been so scarce here. But vow by the powers of gray skull to update my beloved blog more and more often.

Just a little post in between pressing new goodies to show off the newest inhabiantant in the land of madness. I've always loved these ceramic sculptures, what with the bright colors and the cuteness factor being off the freakin scales, and I FINALLY found one. Maneki Neko (beckoning cat in Japanese) are usually kept by business owners who are known to keep them by the entrance and are belived to bring good luck. All I really know for sure is I can't stop staring at the little cutie resting on my shelf and if it brings good luck well all the better.

I've been scare here lately, due to an insane amount of custom orders (which I'm super thankful for, but are leaving me a bit more frazzled then usual), but here are a few things I've been really enjoying or hope to enjoy soon.
(A.) Camera ring from Fred Flare (B.) We by Yevgeny Zamyatin (I just finished it and loved, loved, LOVED it) a wonderful dystopia that's based in the future where the soul is considered to be a disease. People aren't people but merely numbers, where "every one" and "I" are a single "We". I highly suggest it over and over again. (C) Kimya Dawson's Remember I Love You LP, Kimya has that rare ability to deliver the most lovely, abrasive, warm and fuzzy, cleverly tragic lyrics I've ever heard. I can go from wanting to cry to laughing out load within the same song. Seriously a treat that I must have once a day. (D) Sherbert Colorblock headphones, I love these headphones, so fun and vibrant they just seem to call out to me. Hope you all had a really lovely weekend,

Mixing it up

After the long weekend things are just getting back to whatever's considered normal here in the land of madness. I didn't manage to ignore things completely this weekend as I had hoped, but some great things were made. I finally got around to making a few of these wall plaques that I've had in my head for quite sometime. This one is for us, but I plan on added some to the shop in the next week or so.

I also made my way to a fabulous flea market that was going on for the holiday and I scored some wonderful finds including this old hand mixer. Which reminds me of a miniature version I had as a kid that I would play with whenever I went to my grandmas. I'm planning on hanging putting it in a shadow box and hanging it in the kitchen. Wrapping things up

Just a quick post to show off my little little ditty that Parker (my totally awesome friend/tattoo artist/pt designer for MM) did for me last week. For those not in the know, I'm a bit of a ray gun freak and have been wanting one tattooed on my massive bicip. :) It's not quite done yet and needs to have color added in the next few weeks, I'll be sure to post pics when it's fin. So I'm finishing up a few custom orders and trying despartely to get all my packaging and shipping done today so I can actually enjoy the long weekend. We have a huge bag of stuff that goes boom and I feel like a big kid. Have a safe but exciting 4th of July or weekend if your not in the states.

I love me some Amy Sedaris and her new book I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence just reafirms why this lady can make me laugh out loud just thinking about some of the things in this book. Filled with her wicked humor, mild drug references, zany hostess tips and some really tasty recipes. It's like a strange scrapbook from an eccentric aunt. Serioulsy a fun read!

I found this Governor Entertainment Center from Crosley that is just what we had in mind and such a perfect touch for the room.

Gotta Have

So how badly do I want this White Stripes special edition lomo camera? Maybe a litte two badly, if you ask Andy.
I'm mildly obbessed with photography and vintage cameras and I've been putting off getting a lomo for quite sometime. Since Lomo has quite the reputation of releasing cool ass cameras that go straight to the top of my lenghty "got to have" list, I usually wait it out to see if I really gotta have it. If I didn't I would have a shelf of them already, straight up.

So I'm thinking it's a good thing I held out. I haven't been able to get this beauty out of my head since I first saw it a few months ago. I just keep picturing that peppermint that's printed on the advance dial. Not only is this a pairing of two of my favorite things (cameras and the white stripes) but this model called the Meg Diana offers a removable pinhole lens, a panorama feature and a peppermint film mask filter. Oh the possibilities!

Aside from scouting out the goods on my gotta have list, I've been pressing a magnitude of the mix tape patches. I've been out of them for ages and missed them a bit. So in case any of you missed them too there are a few new sets coming to my shop, including large mix tape and brassies back patches. Hope everyone's monday is off to a good start. I'm off brainstorm with Andy about turtle terttierium ideas.

How I love you and hate to see you go so soon.

Thanks for giving me the time I need that the rest of the week just won't allow. You allow me to tumble out of bed at my leisure and I never feel guilty for however much coffee I may consume or how long it takes me to read the paper. Sunday, your the best time ever to go to the record shop and peruse endlessly and Andy and I are never disappointed when we leave the thrift empty handed. Unlike your dreaded counterpart Monday, you fill me with illusions of grandeur for all the things I might get done. Like getting a half assed start in on hanging the oodles of artwork I have horded away.

Or day dreaming about these amazing tea sets from Misiak (I really love the aqua one) who makes old teapots new again, and you can see these amazing dittys have a very colorful past. I would defiantly have more Sunday tea parties with these. Well, my sweet. It's almost time to bid you ado, Andy are preparing to watch movies, order take out and be as consistently lazy as we've been all day. Until we meet again, dear Sunday. See ya in six days.

Are oh so hard to find. This is proving true with my quest to revamp my living and working spaces. Now that I'm spending more time at home, I'm noticing that what was working for me just a few years ago isn't really sealing the deal anymore. Of course finding insanely awesome artwork via Etsy was simple.

I also really love this Pee Wee Herman Print by almost famous.
I could seriously go on all day with the rad ass prints in my favorites, but another day perhaps.
So as you can see I have the artwork covered, I even managed to secure a spectacular modern red sofa that I really had to pinch myself over. There are even hopeful prospects of a lovely vintage steel desk that is in amazing condition will likely be in my grasps. But the most eluding part has to be chairs, now maybe I'm a tad picky but I know what I want and the chair gods are not smiling upon me. If anyone can point me in the direction of a green leather retro looking office chair with a swivel, sort of like the one in the overstock.com commerical (but of course they don't seem to have any remotely resembling it) I've also got my eyes open for a gray/light blue techno chair. Or if you know of any nice modish sites for furniture give me a holla.

So until the next time, I'm looking in a new direction, and hoping that the good ones are not far away.

Are two words that will automatically kill any sort of "compliment" that someone makes about your business. I'm not denying my goods are cute, and I'm certainly not the star bucks of screen printing (and never would want to be). My life is full of well wishers who are curious about what I do even if they don't "get it" themselves. I've always had a hard time describing what it is that I do, it's often rambled and met with blank stares. It's really hard for people to belive that people are willing to fork over their hard earned money for my "cute little" goods. They think it's crazy that I'm earning a living that doesn't involve a gray cubiclue and a paycheck from the man every two weeks. Heck it was hard for me to belive it when I first started, but I know better now and work hard at making this my full time gig. I remember the first time I handed out a business card to a co-worker and they thought it was so cute that I had business cards. Hello!?! I run a business, sometimes I think they're expecting a piece of construction paper with glitter and my name spelled out crookedly in crayon. Now that would be "cute".

Goings Ons

Lots going on lately, which is why I've been so light with the old posts lately. Today has been a lazy day and I haven't had one in a while. I worked on my newest creation this afternoon before stopping for a tea break, and a wee blog post. Speaking of tea I've taken a break from coffee shortly after getting and falling in love with my french press. I still use it to brew my loose leaf teas (today it's red hot from teanoir's etsy shop, it's so good!) I adore my french press so and know that I'm not alone. Yet there really isn't enough kitchen wares that really proves that affection for thy beloved press. So....I came up with these little numbers to adorn the kitchens of french press fiends everywhere!
There's also the tree top tunics that are now available in my shop! They are inspired by my early morning outings. I love how the tree tops look against sky and have been wanting to try this idea out for quite some time.

I've also been perusing the awesome wall graphics at etsy shop Michelle Christina
She carries some of the most detailed unique wall graphics including this ditty that is calling out to be put in my kitchen but in red and white of course.

And really how sweet are these sweetheart graphics?

Off to finish up a wallet pattern I'm working on. More on that laters.

Taking the Time

Sorry for the lack of post lately. One of my new years goals was to get organized and that's taken a little more of my time and energy then I really expected.

I've also been trying to make more time for things I love to do but just haven't had time for, like baking, writing and collage. I was recently at the book store where I spotted a book of Thomas Allens pulp fiction art. His technique involves cutting characters part way from their covers so it looks as if they're coming out of the books and then photographing them for a 3-D effect. I really love how you feel as if your looking into the picture, and how some of the characters are "interacting" with one another. I stood there for ages just looking at that book amazed and awe-inspired and decided I'd try my own take at this but with TTV photography. I shall post the results soon so stay tuned.

Latest Obsession-Same Old Hijicks-Brand New Year!

Happy New Year all!!! I'm so glad to do away with 2007, great as it was for me, I'm all about the new, new, new!!! Speaking of new... TTV (Through The Viewfinder) photography is my latest greatest obsession for the new year. I'm still a total "newbie" but I love some of the shots I've taken so far.

If anything I enjoy the results a dash more due to the extra work involved. For those as clueless as I was until a few short months ago, TTV involves shooting with camera through the view finder of another camera (preferably a vintage camera) for a dramatically romantic effect, depending on the lenses the results are endless, and I am in love. Friends in the hood and a mardi gras christmas

My partner in crafting, crime and kooky "visions" Steph is now in my hood and I'm stoked! It's such a nice comforting feeling to know that you have friends close by, especially when their super awesome like she is. I'm looking forward to many a wine diluted crafty sessions in the near future. Yay!

This year we decided to go with a mardi gras themed tree and I love it! It's strung with green, gold and purple beads, masks, sparkley ribbon boa and topped off with a crown of course. Coupled with some louie armstrong christmas tunes and soco egg nog the good times are here! Hap-Hap Happy Holidays all!

Mail Goodies

It's amazing the amount of joy this little yellow box can bring! I got my order in from Daskalides yesterday. They couldn't have come at a better time, these sweet little chocolates always give me just the boast I need. I was turned on to these decadent treats last spring when I was working with the lovely Belgium beauty Mieke when she was starting out her amazing shop, Mieke in Gent. As a thank you gift she sent me a box of these babies and a love affair was born! Seriously these chocolates are the best ever, and I almost died a little when I found out that you can't get them here in the states. Luckily they will ship them to you directly from Belgium and this girl is oh so glad! Speaking of that kooky cutie Mieke,(who by the way makes the cutest aprons) recently contacted me for more goods (yay!) and sent me pictures of her store in Gent and I'm blown away!

So picturesque right?! I love how indie posh it is and she has the cutest collection of handmade goods eva! My day was made when I saw my scooter rally onesies hanging in this rad ass case.

It's such a great feeling to be in such good company as Mieke carries the cutest handmade goods for kids and grown-ups! The selection of plushies is just amazing!

So if ever in Gent, make sure to check out Mieke's at Baudelostraat 23 - 9000 you won't be sorry!

Kinda Slackin

I've been sorta slackin with my blog, Thanksgiving had a big part to do with it but so did all the amazing new goods I've been cooking up for the Christmas Season!

Feast your eyes on the new Carpe Noctum Print that is now avaliable!

This is a print of an orginal watercolor painting by my talented friend Parker. I love this sweet little owl and how he's dressed to the nines. The colors are so warm and rich in real life. Parker dosn't like to name his painting so gave me the honors, Carpe Noctum is Latin for Seize the Night and I thought it to be wildly approriate.

I also pressed some new Sew a Go-Go Raglans in Burgundy and Pink. I'm really digging the pink and burgundy together, it's a surprisnly nice contrast. More colors to follow.

Also, new mixtape tees for the ladies! It occured to me that I haven't made any of these for women in a while and well isn't that reason enough?!

So that's it for now, but I'll share the other new goods that are going to be listed later this week. Plenty of bags, tags and wares for the wee one.

Cuteness ala mail

So most people who know me, know that I love getting mail. The good kind of course, not bills, credit card offers or other junk mail that litters my mail box on a more then regular basis. Being the mail junkie that I am, it's no surprise that I participate in the many mail art and post card exchanges that take place online. is my favorite closely followed by post crossing Both of these sites keep my wee mail box full of unexpected surprises all year round, but I"ve never received one that made me giggle and smile such as this one does, and I'm not usually the type to go ga-ga for baby prop pics but maybe by co workers calendar of babies neslted in flowers and dressed as various incects has started to wear me down. Never the less, I got this awesome postcard of a baby playing the drums, with a way cooler look then I have when I'm playing mine. Thank you Alexis in VA! I adore it and have it in my "favorite post card of the week spot" the place that gets all the action...my fridge. :)

Ahoy sailors! I couldn't help squealing with delight as I printed these new kids tees yesterday. I mean really how cute are these?!

Kids hoodies and adult tees are soon to follow, but for now I made a few of these for plus sized ladies and I think they are smashing and will be added to the shop later tonight!

This past week as been....interesting; and it's only Tuesday. So far I've begun my part time schedule at my day job and was the ungrateful recipient of a questionable haircut, more on that later.

So, I started my part time schedule this week and I do really like it but do miss the perks of my old job like chopping it up with my pals (Steph if your reading this email me, Mother T is on quarentine with my emails from home again! :)) and surfing Etsy,I've just found it odd these past few days for me to be at home working on my things. I've had the same schedule for ages (and I do mean ages, 8+ years!) True it's only been two days and I am kinda getting a little rhyme going, but it just hasn't set in yet. This will take some getting used to indeed.

On ward to the questionable haircut. So after much haggling with the strange lady that I foolishly allowed to cut my hair, I walked out of the salon not feeling like anyone should...ever! There was no pep in my step or swing with my swagger. Betrayed and bitter, I shook my fist and cursed myself for not waiting for Meagan (who gives amazing haircuts) and I bolted to my car. Of course once I got home I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought, not what I asked for...but not sooo bad. I will post a pic later, maybe a lesson can be learned from my lack of patience. Anyhoo, I've been a busy little bee making homey stuff which I'll post another time. I'll leave you with these cutie little tags I whipped up yesterday. Love Letters, Sprockets and Scooters....

These are a few of my favorite things...

Since last night's post was eaten by my blog or I might have hastely pressed delete by mistake, which one the world may never know. I'm reposting about the latest goings on in the land of madness. I've been super busy these past few days making new stuff or re making old favorites. New in ye old shoppe are.....

Scooter Rally Sprocket Tote bags: I coupled two of my favorites to create this cutie, the clock work sprocket and the scooter rally designs which really work well together (T-Shirts are coming soon).

The Messenger cards are also new and I'm quite smitten with them. Taken from a drawing by my talented friend Parker, I decided these might just make the cutest little cards to scribble a note to your loved ones. What with the out streathed hand delivering a love letter across the front of the textured folding cards. I used my spiffy gold ink on these and I love how it sparkles!

I also whipped up some new gadget cozies in dark sturdy denim that was printed with the clock work sprocket design in sliver ink (how I love the sparkles lately!)and those will be in the shop later. Whew! I told you I was busy, and I"m not done yet! Monday's shop update should be a dozey. I'm full steam ahead as I've finally gone part time at my day job and can in turn make more stuff and boy howdy does that feel good.

Dear new blog,

I promise to treat you better then my older ones. The ones I don't visit anymore and hardly give another thought to. You will be different I can feel it. I shall use you, it's true. Use you, to show off the rad wares I make and sell and to keep my fan base informed in the newest happenings and goings on's with me and my Etsy shop Moxie Madness. The love you receive multiply times a week if not daily will more then make up for my past of rocky love affairs with thy old blogs. I shall spread the gospel by filling you with the gems and pebbles that rock my socks.
